Otolaryngologists treat patients of all ages with diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck. Commonly treated problems include hearing loss, ringing in the ears, dizziness, nasal allergies, sinus infections, sore throat, hoarseness and swallowing problems, snoring and sleep apnea, and surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid, as well as other tumors of the mouth and neck. They are commonly referred to as ENT physicians or head and neck surgeons.
